Club Penguin

The game Club Penguin is a new and emerging online game designed mostly for younger kids. Club Penguin is a massive multiplayer online role-playing game developed by New Horizon Interactive. Club Penguin uses cartoon penguin avatars which players can waddle around town entering different clubs and stores.

Club Penguin is a free site if you choose, however you can also choose to pay for a member ship which cost $5.95 for a month, $29.95 for six months or $57.95 for a year. The free section of club penguin is almost the same as the paid members version of the site, with the exception of not being able to play during members parties, buy clothing, furniture, own more than two puffles and access their igloo via map(non-paying member can also make igloos, however they will not be accessible via map).



Club Penguin offers a very family friendly environment perfect for younger children. People caught using profanity are sentenced to an automatic 24-hour ban, although not all vulgar language will result in an immediate ban. After being caught using profanity a second or third time on club penguin players may be banned for 72 hours. After 3 to 5 times being caught using vulgar language, that player is banned indefinitely.

The moderators of Club Penguin work in large teams to monitor all of the Club Penguin’s users. Moderators have to be of at least 18 years of age live near or in Kelowna, British Columbia Canada and pass a criminal record check.

Club Penguin is designed primarily for children ages 8 to 14 and has qualified for the Better Business Bureau Kid’s Privacy Seal of Approval. The site has also opened a online merchandise shop on the Club Penguin’s website which sells stuffed Puffles, T-shirts, Key chains, and gift cards.
